*About Poster Theme & Artist:

The original artwork was created by Major Thomas Woodburn in 1939 but the poster was officially printed in 1941. The image features a formation of Seversky P-35 fighters led by an American Eagle bearing the Army Air Corps aircraft roundel. This patch with the red circle in the center was removed in May, 1942, to avoid the similarity with the Japanese Rising Sun insignia.

Tom Woodburn. A Texan who had studied art and architecture, Tom Woodburn was commissioned in the Infantry a month after the U. S. entered World War I. He hopes it will never have to enter World War II. He created the recruiting posters before the start of World War II and his incredible designs were instrumental in helping encourage the enlistment of soldiers making the U.S. better prepared.

Wings Over America, Air Corps, U. S. Army is one of his more famous military posters that he created from the U. S. Government.

The poster is in used condition, stored for many years. It was probably folded and rolled and has visible bends and dents. We purchased it together with the frame visible in the photos, which is a glass pane and metal sides. At the back, at the top, part of the poster sticks out and did not fit in the frame, although it is a clear part without any graphics or text, etc. We leave the poster as it is in the frame, so it is perfectly protected and ready to be shipped and hung at the new buyer's place. The new buyer can frame it in a new frame according to his needs.

A beautiful piece of history, a very collectable decorative and educational poster for every US Military Aviation enthusiast.
