Lockheed L-1011 TriStar - a wide-body long-range passenger aircraft, produced by Lockheed Corporation, intended to compete with aircraft such as the Boeing 747 or McDonnell Douglas DC-10. Like the DC-10, the Tristar had three turbofan engines. Between 1968 and 1984, Lockheed produced 250 TriStars. The aircraft was not a great success, which is why Lockheed withdrew from the commercial jet market after its production ended. At the time of its market entry, it was the most technically advanced passenger aircraft in the world. It was also Lockheed's first and last civilian jet airliner.
